Step Into Stories
on 13 April 2024
With Bewdley Festival

green book with footsteps going into the pages

We invite you to step into the wonderful world of stories with us on 13 April 2024.

Our one-day festival is packed full of some of the best authors, poets and storytellers in the children’s story world today. We have something for all children aged 0 – 16+, from picture books to poetry, detectives to inventors, story trains to story tellers and even a chance for over 16’s (including adults!) to learn a little about writing and telling stories for children.

We invite you to make a day of it and take part in our story tale trail and go home with a new book with our Big Bewdley Book Swap. We have a mixture of ticketed and free events so everyone can join in the fun.

We can’t wait to Step into Stories with you here in Bewdley, on April 13th, 2024.

The Big Bewdley Book Swap

If you’ve got some used children's books in good condition that are taking up space on your shelf at home, why not bring them with you to the Step into Stories Festival?

We’d love nothing more than to see everyone go home at the end of the day with a new (to you!) book. Drop your used books to St George’s Hall, Bewdley by 12 o’clock on Saturday the 13th of April 2024 and we will give you some books tickets in exchange. Come back at 2pm when our Big Bewdley Book Swap Shop is open and you can exchange your ticket for a different book!

Don’t have any used books at home? Come and see us at our Book Swap Shop on the day from 2-4pm as we aim to have collected enough books for all our visitors to leave with at least one.

Every child deserves a book of their own, so we’re hoping to lend a helping hand.

The Step into Stories Story Tale Trail

Can you spot all of the story tale characters hiding around Bewdley town during our festival? Follow the clues on our sheet to discover all of their hiding places and solve the puzzle.

The first 100 people to solve our story trail puzzle will receive a goody bag!Simply come to St George’s Hall cafe and find our story trail volunteer who will give you the sheet. Return the sheet to receive your prize!

Competition

Here at Step into Stories, we love stories and poems of all kinds, but we especially love the ones children write. So we have decided to run a short story and poetry competition leading up to our festival.

You could win a ticket to an event of your choice (Severn Valley Railway event excluded) and a book kindly provided by Birmingham publisher The Emma Press. Certificates and book prizes will be awarded on the day in our lovely local independent bookshop - Wyre Forest Books.

Remember to keep an eye on our page for further details.
